Ms. Broderick is a member in Sherman & Howard's Trust Department in Denver.  She chaired the Colorado Bar Assn committee that studied and then helped pass the Colo Uniform Trust Decanting Act, which became effective last August.  She has written several articles on trust decanting and speaks about trends and tools in the drafting and admin of trusts.  She was named a 2017 Colorado Super Lawyer - Rising Star.

Course Description: To educate estate planners on the Colorado Uniform Trust Decanting Act.  Ms Broderick will discuss what trusts can be decanted, standards for decanting power, procedure, together with features of the Colorado Act with regard to charitable interests, special needs trusts, life insurance trusts, animal trusts, tax savings limitations.  She will provide examples in practice and discuss decanting in Colorado outside of the Act.

Learning Objective:  The purpose of the presentation is to educate estate planners regarding the Colo Uniform Trust Decanting Act that went into effect in 2016, with nsights into specific examples of how it may be used to help improve trusts and their administration.
